Clough 3-2 Denholme Utd (4th Nov 06)
A fine display saw Clough Triumph in West Riding Challenge Cup second round
tie.
Two quality strikes from Paul Smith set them on their way before Paul
Crowther added a third after the break.
Clough fell behind after five minutes to a quickly taken free-kick but they
soon equalised as Paul Smith fired home a free kick.
Good play from Jimmy Machen then set up Paul Smith and his fine strike meant
Clough led at half time.
Soon after the break Paul Crowther chased down a loose ball to slot pas the
advancing keeper to see Clough take a 3-1 lead.
The home side then benefited from a solid defensive display, led by Neil
Johnson and Craig Smith, supported in midfield by Neil Griffiths, Colin Wood
and Nathan Hallas.
The visitors had a ray of hope as the converted a late penalty but Clough
stood firm to take a placed in the third round.

Clough 6-1 Street Works (Sat 18 Nov 06)
Howden Clough continued their fine form with this second defeat of Street
Works in the last month, putting them second in the West York's League.
Four goals from Paul Crowther were the highlight but Cloughs dominance was
apparent throughout.
The result was built on a solid performance, the defence was comfortable,
marshalled by Neil Johnson and Craig Smith, the full backs linked well with
midfield, who in turn supported attack continuously. Clough led 3-0 at half
time from a Crowther hat trick, the pick being the second as he raced 30yd
before cutting in and firing low to the goalkeepers right.
The second half saw Clough take control as the midfield of Danny Cooper,
Neil Griffiths, Paul Smith and Matty Fahy dominated.
This resulted in further goals from Matty Fahy and Paul Smith before
Crowther had the sixth as he rounded off a fine display with his fourth goal
to put Clough 6-0 up. Street Works scored in injury time.

Beeston St A 3-5 Clough Sat 23 Dec06
A cracking game saw second placed Clough battle back 3 times last Saturday
to seal a 5-3 success at Beeston St Anthony.
Beeston opened the scoring after 15 mins with a 20yd strike but Danny
Clapham soon levelled.
Beeston regained the lead from a corner but in the 35th min Neil Griffiths
fired home from 20yds.
The hosts snatched the lead but after the break Clough impressed as they
snuffed out Beestons forwards threat. Midfielders Danny Cooper, Griffiths,
Smith and Matty Fahy won their battles to feed the impressive Paul Crowther
and man-of-the-match Clapham who scored twice to complete his hat-trick.
The pick of his goals was Cloughs forth where stout defending by Craig
Smith, Nick Johnson and Colin Wood led to a pass which released Clapham and
he raced 25yds before drilling the ball home.
Victory was sealed late on as good work by Cooper and Fahy led to an own
goal. With leaders Leeds Met Carnegie in Cup action, victory saw Clough
close the gap at the top to just one point although Carnegie have three
games in hand.
