Match Reports 2006-7

(Please email reports soccer@hcjfc.fsnet.co.uk)
17 Sept
The U9C Tiger team gained an impressive 3-0 win over Dalton. In the first half they dominated midfield and defenders Ethan Gomersal, Peter Foster Joshua Approvic and Sam Refold impressed. An early goal by Nathan Billingham who added another, gave Clough a healthy 2-0 half time lead. Strong play by Andrew Greaves, Mathew Banks and Refold bred confidence and a cross by Refold saw Billingham seal his hat-trick. Liam Mullholland went close twice with free kicks and goalkeeper Ben Yardley made some good saves. MoM went to Billingham.

Clough U9B maintained their fine form from last season with a 13-0 win over Wyke. Last seasons top scorer George Spencer hit four with other goals in an outstanding team performance from Troy Markham-Smith(two), Ben Twohig, Brian Day(two) Jack Hinchcliffe, captain Robert Naylor, Declan Sheehan and Lewis Boddy, James Leadbeater gave a solid display and Guy Hardwick made three fine saves as Wyke never stopped trying.

24 Sept
The u9B team turned in a great display to win 8-0 at Rastrick and gain a second league win in a row. Good passing and fine individual strikes proved too much for Rastrick who deserved credit for their enthusiasm throughout. The pick of the goals was a fine strike from MoM Ben Twohig who finished with a hat-trick. Jack Hinchcliffe , who played a role in the goals, also scored a hat trick while George Spencer hit two. Guy Hardwick, Brian Day, Sam Reffould, Josuha Aprovic and Jamie Leadbetter all impressed.

Clough U9C Tigers showed impressive determination to produce their second successive win of the season, 3-0 at Hepworth Utd. The first half proved tense with Clough going close through George Spencer and Nathan Billington. A great defensive display

Clough U9A 7-0 Rastrick A
The U9s hit top form to beat Rastrick 7-0. Clough played some of their best football of the season with the defence of Declan Sheehan and Rob Chappell solid and goalkeeper Jamie Cawtheray having little to do. They took the lead from a fine free-kick by George Woocock. Bradley Wild netted after good work from Dominic Hale and Joe Woodhouse finished from close range.
Clough scored another four after the break . Wild, Woodhouse and Woodcock got their second goals before Ashley Woods completed the scoring with a fine solo effort. MoM for a fine performance was Conner Teale.

The U9 B 12-1 Rastrick B
Clough gained a convincing 12-1 win over Rastrick B.
Stand-in goalkeeper Sam Grayson had little to do but was good when called upon. Defenders James Leadbetter and Ben Twohig were solid through-out. The attacking play from midfielder Charlie Toulson, Lewis Boddy and Jack Hinchliffe was outstanding and Clough deservedly lead 3-0 at half time thanks to to goals from Lewis Boddy and an own goal.
Second half pressure paid off as Hinchliffe scored a hat-trick. There was another own goal and a very impressive five coming from top scorer George Spencer to earn MoM .Rastrick never stopped trying and were awarded with a consolation goal.

Clough U9s 0-2 Hepworth C
The Tigers lost to Hepworth C in an even contest. Strong tackling from captain Sam Reffould, Joseph Townend and Matthew Banks made it difficult for the opposition. Strong defence by Joseph Aprcovic , Andy Greaves and Ethan Gomersal kept it goal-less at half time.
After further pressure the Tigers defence broke and Hepworth scored two quick goals, leaving the Tigers with an uphill task.
Tigers forwards Nathan Billingham, Liam Mulholland and Peter Foster created chances, but were unable to trouble the goalkeeper. Ben Yardley made numerous good saves. MoM was Greaves.
