The U7 Red Team recorded their first victory of the season, beating
Glen Juniors 3-0.Clough attacked from the start winning several corners.
Jordan Crossley, Brandon Heeley and Andrew M combined well in midfield. Glen
created chances but goalkeeper Sam Isles and crunching tackles from Joshua
Harland and outstanding MoM Taylor Goldthorpe kept it goalless at half time.
In the second half Cloughs passing improved, Sean Rhodes and Alex Newsome
provided crosses for Niall Walker to rifle two goals. Joshua Foster nudged
Newsomes goal-bound shot home for the third to complete the win.
The U7 Green Team continued their unbeaten start with an impressive
8-0 win over Glen Juniors.
Conner Wood producing his best display to date, scoring four goals. MoM Josh
Walton netted three, including a cracking shot into the top corner from a
cross by Jake Weatherhead.
Ben Rhodes powered a low shot for his first goal for Clough and James M
Worked hard and created chances. Ryan Jones, Saad Aziz, James Butterworth
and goalkeeper Callum Haynes were solid.
Sat 5 Nov Ossett Town v Howden Clough
U7 teams visited Ossett Town
Football Ground and played in two excellent games with Ossett Town Juniors
U7’s. All at Clough would like to thank Ossett Town for their hospitality.
U7 Red team were mostly the stronger side but failed to break
Ossett’s stubborn defence. Niall Walker, Josh Foster and Jordan Crossley
upfront, Josh Harland, James M and Brandon Heeley winning midfield. In
defence Alex Newsome, Taylor Goldthorpe and Sam Isles in goal kept Ossett’s
clear chances to one, which they took well for 1-0. MoM was Sean Rhodes who
showed some excellent skill and was unlucky not to score.
U7 Green
team are still unbeaten this season with a 2-2 draw against Ossett Town B.
Hallum Haynes in goal, James Butterworth and Ryan Jones defended well,
Andrew M, Jake Weatherhead and Ben Rhodes in midfield. Andrew Macdonald was
strong upfront. Clough’s goals came in each half from Josh Walton and a
fantastic late equaliser from Connor Wood. Mom was Saad Aziz for a great
display in defence

Sean Rhodes scores first Hat
trick for U7’s
U7 red
team so far beating Tingley Tigers U7 A team 7 -0.
Clough stormed into the lead with goals from Niall Walker and Josh Foster.
The best move started when Sam Isles excellent goal kick was collected by
Josh Harland who passed to Sean Rhodes who set up Walker for his second.
Alex Newsome added the fourth with a volley.
Taylor
Goldthorpe was solid in defence.
Second
half Clough dominated and Sean Rhodes scored a superb hat trick, the best a
turn and volley from outside the box. Mom was Josh Foster for his
persistence in attack.
U7 Green team defeated Tingley 6 – 1 who started well and Keeper Callum
Haynes, James M, Andrew M, James Butterworth all defended well. Tingley took
a short lived lead when Andrew Macdonald pounced in the box to equalise just
before half time. Clough were dominant in the second half with goals from
Connor Wood, a second for Andrew Macdonald, Jordan Crossley and two for Josh
Walton. Jordan Crossley was MoM for an all round performance.

Red team beat St
Josephs 1-0 in a tense game. First half St Josephs attacked down the slope
and Clough defended superbly with James M, Taylor Goldthorpe and MoM Alex
Newsome all made top class interceptions. Keeper Sam Isles had to make some
instinctive saves and Clough got to half time 0-0. Second half Cloughs
passing improved, Josh Harland and Josh Foster went forward with purpose.
The breakthrough came when Sean Rhodes threaded a pass to Niall Walker whose
shot from distance deceived the keeper to win the game.
U7 Green team
beat St Josephs 4-3 in a thrilling game. Clough stormed into the lead with
some great individual goals from Josh Walton, Ben Rhodes and MoM Connor Wood
scoring twice. Jake Weatherhead, Andrew M and Andrew Macdonald all worked
hard in support. St Josephs pulled one back to make it 4-1 at half time.
Second half St Josephs put Clough under pressure, Keeper Callum Haynes,
James Butterworth and Saad Aziz defended well and showed some fine touches.

Howden Clough U7 verses Wortley U7. Sunday 8th January 2006
U7 Red
team extended their
unbeaten run to five games with a 3-0 win over Wortley U7A. Showing improved
tackling Clough were solid in defence with James M, Alex Newsome, Andrew M
and Taylor Goldthorpe. Sam Isles’ long goal kicks give Clough a real
advantage. Excellent passing helped Clough to a 2 -0 lead at half time with
low drives from Josh Harland and Josh Foster. Second half Sean Rhodes
skilfully attacked down one wing and was unlucky not to score. Newsome
powered down the other wing providing the cross for Niall Walker to coolly
score the third. MoM was Walker for his persistence in attack.
U7 Green
team convincingly
beat Wortley U7B 6-0. Jordan Crossley scored two goals inside 5 minutes. MoM
Ben Rhodes added the third after a great run. Persistence in the box from
Connor Wood put Clough 4-0 up at half time. Callum Haynes, Andrew Macdonald
and James Butterworth all played well at the back. Josh Walton and Ethan
Yardley both passed the ball well and created chances for Wood who added two
more goals.

Howden Clough U7 Verses Rothwell
Town U7 .
Clough
U7 Red team showed
how much they have improved with a 4-0 win over a Rothwell Town U7 team with
a good reputation. Clough were magnificent in defence restricting Town to
few chances. Goalkeeper Sam Isles, Alex Newsome, Josh Harland and MoM Taylor
Goldthorpe defended courageously keeping a fifth clean sheet in a row.
Goldthorpe’s performance was composed and several crunching tackles stopped
Rothwell in their tracks. Early chances for Clough went painfully close but
Niall Walker split Rothwell defence and fired low into the net. Josh Foster
added a second before half time. Town’s best effort hit the post and Sam
Isles threw himself on the loose ball (to keep that all important clean
sheet). Good play in midfield by Alex Newsome helped created chances for
Ethan Yardley to add two more goals.
U7 Green
team never gave up in
a tense 1-0 victory over Rothwell Town. Early play saw both teams have
chances. Ben Rhodes and Connor Wood tested Town’s Keeper. Clough defence was
solid with James Butterworth, Andrew M, and James M tackling well. Clough
had the better second half heaping pressure on the Town defence. A great
midfield run by Josh Walton set up Jordan Crossley to score from close
range. Keeper Callum Haynes parried a shot at full stretch late on and MoM
was Josh Walton for running his heart out.
Ossett Town Junior
Gala Sunday 14th May 2006.
Howden Clough’s U7’s had an
enjoyable but long afternoon out at Ossett Town Junior Gala. The U7 Green
Team of Keepers James M, defenders Saad Aziz, James Butterworth and
Callum Haynes, Midfield of Ben Rhodes, Andrew M and Demi Nichols and
Strikers Connor Wood and Andrew Macdonald got off to a solid start with 0-0
draw with Thornes B. Clough defended well but suffered defeat against
Stanley B. Persistent play Connor Wood brought him the goal to defeat Ossett
C team. It all went to the final game where Clough needed victory over a
strong Ossett B team to qualify. After a good start where Cloughs chances
went wide Ossett scored two second half goals to win the group.
U7 Red team
fought hard and worked well as a team playing some good football to reach
the final where they eventually lost to Thornes Juniors A 3-0. Cloughs
defence of Keeper Sam Isles and defenders Taylor Goldthorpe and Alex Newsome
had excellent tournaments only conceding goals in the final. Opening game
was a 0-0 with Thornes, the Winners, Isles making two magnificent saves and
Ethan Yardley hitting the post. Clough then beat Stanley A 1-0 with a goal
by Josh Walton and Hall Green United 1-0, goal by Niall Walker. Clough
dominated the game with Ossett Town A with chances falling to Josh Foster,
Sean Rhodes and Walker but it ended 0-0. In the Semi Clough defeated Stanley
B 3-0 with goals from Yardley (2) and Walker after good work by Patrick
Howgate. In the final Clough were unlucky after a tiring afternoon.
Playmaker Sean Rhodes was Player of the match in the final. |
