Match Reports

Team ONE

Team TWO

Team THREE

Clough Team1  1-0 Rothwell
A superb game with both teams showing commitment and determination from the kick off. Rothwell unbeaten all season passed the ball well and had an early shot well saved by Bradley Adams in goal. Clough responded with Anthony Linley and Scott Atkinson working the ball up the field and a return pass to Anthony almost going in the net. Man of the match Joshua Twohig controlled the defense and charged forward on several occasions .The turning point of the game came when Thomas Duffy scored with a thunder free kick from outside the area, both teams had chances with Ryan Adams second half goalkeeping heroics and Adam Milners runs and quick tackling kept a skillful Rothwell quiet.

Match Report.

A beautiful Saturday morning saw two sets of most enthusiastic players take to the field with beaming smiles. The Captains shook hands and Carlinghow kicked off, a good passing move saw Carlinghow Strikers go for an early goal, Ryan Adams for Clough got down well and pushed the shot out for a corner, taken quickly and soon broken down with good defending from Joshua Twohig and Alex Gaunt. Cloughs midfield pair of Thomas Duffy and Adam Milner linked well and the striking partnership of Joshua Twohig and Greg Woods caused Carlinghow some trouble.  Second half saw both teams make changes, Cloughs midfield pairing of Henryk Krajniewski and Liam Blakeley had an impact and the striking pair of Alex Nelson and Joshua Twohig. A well entertaining game with the experience of Clough gaining the way.

Final Score was Carlinghow 0: Clough 7 but the scoreline was not important, the friendship of the boys conquered the day.

Scott Atkinson replied with a good run and pass to Adam Milner who went onto open the score, a good powerful shot giving the keeper little chance. Excellent tackling and non stop running from Alexander Gaunt was rewarded with Man of the Match, James Wilcock played well and went onto double Cloughs lead with a fine shot that caught out Glen defense. To their credit, Glen battled on and good moves were broken down by a resiliant defense of Joshua Twohig and Lewis Reddick. Interplay between Ryan Adams and Bradley Adams found Anthony Linley in space who ran for g
oal and converted to finish the game off at 3:0.

Ossett 3:Clough 2

Osset pulled a goal back with a good run through the centre and shot which flew past Alex Gaunt in goals. Adam Milner had a solid game in midfield and thwarted several Osset attacks. At the break Osset recovered and caught Clough with a break. Cloughs second came from a solo run and shot from Thomas Duffy.  Captain Anthony Linley rallied and pushed his team forwards. Nathan Battle deservedly earned Man of the Match with a fine spell in midfield and then in defence covering well at the back. Second half strikes from Twohig and Linley were unfortunate to be well saved.

Clough Team2  0-3 Rothwell
A positive and self belief gave Clough boys a half chance when Rothwell started with two quick goals.
