U11 Development Policy

Player and Coach Development Policy
Under 11's and 12's-Within League Rules
Continue individual soccer skills and team work coaching, concentrate on technical ability and tactics, monitor improvement of and promote individuals responsibility for improvement. Increase the stretching routines to include light stamina training, continue warm up and cool down sessions before and after games as well as training sessions. Begin to place players in positions of play (for continuity) but still move them around within the team occasionally. Organise into 1st and 2nd teams (within league rules), 1st team coach to have first pick of the age group, players not required for 1st team duty in that week to be included in the 2nd team squad. Continue the theme that winning is fun without pressure to succeed, success is expected more in 1st team than in the 2nd.
Where possible play friendly games where the 1st and 2nd teams can be mixed to make up teams, this promotes teamwork throughout the age group, training games would be a good starting point for this. All players in these age groups to train together.

Match Reports Season 0708

(Please email reports to Jeff soccer@hcjfc.co.uk)

Clough produced an outstanding display to win 13-1 at Almondbury . Reece Sharp in goal was largely untroubled , thanks to fine defence by Ronan Marriner Jack Stones and Jacob Vota Veiga with Conner Hall sound in the centre Zack Moore, Sam Ottewell, Kieran Worthey and Andrew Scurrah controlled midfield. Up front James Downey, Patrick Sykes, Joe Wimpenny and Liam Pollard impressed and almost all the players scored. MoM was given to the squad for a magnificent performance.
---------------------------------------------------
Howden Clough A travelled to Dewsbury Rangers in what turned out to be a hard fought encounter. Clough didn't start too brightly and the home side took advantage and soon found themselves 2-0 up after some good football. Guy Hardwick had Joe Woodhouse and James Leadbeater protecting him and after being 2-0 down they did just that for the rest of the game. Midfielders Conner Teale and Ashley Woods worked tirelessly and linked well with Lawrence Killey who raced through from midfield and latched onto a superbly timed pass from the impressive Alex Hasioszyn. Jack Hinchliffe was the front man and his runs from deep caused Dewsbury a few problems. Clough levelled through Hasioszyn when he reacted first to a loose ball and coolly slotted past the keeper from an impossible angel. Clough started the 2nd half brightly and took the lead for the first time with another cracker from Lawrence Killey to earn him M.O.M. Dewsbury kept resolute and deservedly got the equaliser to make 3-3 and a very entertaining game for all.

Howden Clough B  also had a difficult encounter against a very organised Dewsbury Rangers B, it was Clough who started the stronger and took the lead with a thunderbolt strike from midfielder Charlie Toulson, Domonic Hale made intelligent runs from midfield and linked well with striker George Spencer who was unlucky on a couple of occasions. Thomas Jackson was a persistent thorn in Dewsbury's side and he  too was unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Dewsbury however played some great football of their own and caught the defence of Lewis Boddy and Peter Foster knapping to get the equaliser. Brian Day made some brave saves to keep Clough in the game and Jamie Cawtheray made some determined runs to try and get Clough ahead. It was left to the inform Charlie Toulson to score Clough's 2nd and it was a great team effort. To Dewsbury's credit their never say die attitude paid off and they got the equaliser they deserved to finish the game at 2-2.

Howden Clough C played at Kexborough in good form and it was Clough who looked the stronger from the start. Peter foster made some great saves and was protected by a defence of  the impressive Ethan Gomersal and outstanding Matthew Banks. The skill and powerful runs from Juvahne Lewis were a constant threat to Kexborough so too was the talented Dayle Brook. Captain Sam Reffould as always lead by example getting from box to box. It was Brook who got the opening goal when he latched onto a spilled ball from the Kexborough keeper. It was a spirited Clough performance away from home and they got a deserved 2nd goal from some neat team play.
final score Kexborough 0  Howden Clough C 2

A commanding all-round performance saw U11A move to second in the league with a 8-1 win over Rastrick A. Strong defending from Jacob Mota-Veiga, Jack Stones, Matthew Dyson and Connor Hall helped protect goalkeeper Luke Skinner. Zack Moore and Sam Ottewell led a strong midfield, supported by Patrick Sykes, who scored two goals. Forwards Brandon Whitton and Connor Hall impressed, MoM Kieran Worthey scored twice and James Downey bagged four, while Andrew Scurrah
was unlucky not to net.
