U10 Soccer Development Plan

U10 Player Development Policy
Continue build on individual soccer skills but with more emphasis on each individual improving their ability, still moving players around in different playing positions continuing to develop all round playing ability and understanding of team roles, still playing for enjoyment, introduce the idea that winning is fun, no pressure to succeed.
Increase stretching routines (still light) to continue development of good warm up and cool down practices. Begin specific coaching practices :- attacking play, defensive play. Small sided games, 7 a side moving to 11 a side towards the end of the season. Increase number of games against opposition clubs towards end of season. Begin to organize into 1st and 2nd teams with players moving between the two. Start training with the older age groups getting ready for league football

Match Reports 2007-8

(Please email reports soccer@hcjfc.co.uk)

Howden Clough played host to local team Batley. It was the A team up first and started the match in style with an early goal for Alex Hasioszyn to put clough 1 up. M.om Guy Hardwick was impressive throughout and defenders James Leadbeater and captain Joe Woodhouse were kept on their toes by fluent football from Batley. It was Batley who relaxed the quicker and soon found themselves 3-1 up at halftime. midfielder Charlie Toulson capped his performance with a fine strike and their were good all round displays from Conner Teale, George Woodcock  and Jordan Garrick. Domonic Hale also had an impressive game on his return to 1st team action. Lawrence Killey who keeps going from strength to strength in every game worked tirelessly and although Batley scored a 4th it was cloughs hard work and determination that helped them finish the match the stronger.
Final Score Clough 2  Batley 4.

Howden Clough B
The Clough B side had a good start to the game and put Batley under pressure early on with Striker George Spencer working tirelessly Throughout the game. It was a solid display from the back with Brian Day having an outstanding game in goal and defender Robert Naylor who was outstanding and earned himself M.O.M. Declan Sheehan also had a great game in defence and went on his dazzling runs to cause Batley problems with his pace. It was the midfield of Ashley Woods, Jack Hinchliffe and Thomas Jackson that proved to be the thorn in Batley's side and soon went 1-0 up thanks to Ash Woods as he nipped onto a long Throw from Naylor and volleyed home. Thomas Jackson kept his fine goal scoring run going with a neat finish from a loose ball to make it 2-0 arguably the goal of the game came from a corner direct when Jamie Cawtheray lost his marker and headed firmly into the net from Hinchliffes cross. Lewis Boddy, Charlie Toulson caused the Batley defence problems with their skilful runs. Batley deserve a lot of credit being 4-0 down at half time they came out fighting and scored the only goal of the 2nd half with a tremendous team effort.
Final Score Clough 4  Batley 1.

Howden Clough C
Kept their fine run going with Pete foster in goal playing well, defenders Ethan Gomersal and Mathew Banks kept the Batley attacks at bay with solid defending, midfielders Josh Aprcovic, captain Sam reffould and Joseph Townend provided constant waves of attack which eventually paid off when Dayle Brook finished in style and the outstanding Liam Mulholland capped a fine display with 2 goals of his own, Clough played some attractive football and thoroughly deserved their victory when Juvahne Lewis scored to make it 4-0 to the home side.

 Howden Clough B
also had a Saturday fixture away in the first round of the league cup away at Netherton. Clough deservedly progressed through to the 2nd round with a convincing 5-0 win Goals came from Thomas Jackson 2, Lewis Boddy 1 and Charlie Toulson 2. Their was impressive games from Brian Day in goal, James Leadbeater and Declan Sheehan in defence, midfielder Asley woods was impressive throughout and Striker George Spencer Lead by example with a lot of hard work defending from the front. M.O.M went to Jackson fro another sterling display.
---------------------------------------------------

Howden Clough U10 B team travelled to Cumberworth A team in bad weather conditions. Solid defending from Ethan Gomersal and James Leadbeater left keeper Brian Day with little to do. midfielders Declan Sheehan, Lewis Boddy and Ashley Woods worked tirelessly along with Thomas Jackson and Charlie Toulson. The deadlock was broken mid-way through the first half when last seasons top scorer and captain George Spencer found the net direct from a freekick , soon after a neat lay off from twinkle toes Toulson found Lewis Boddy who Cooley slotted home through a crowd of players. The 2nd half kicked off and it was the home team who started the brighter and a got themselves back in the game with an early goal but this brought the better out of Clough and they soon regained the 2 goal advantage when Spencer picked the ball up in his own half and breezed past the Cumberworth midfield and out strengthen the big Cumberworth defender and made no mistake when through on goal which earned him the M.O.M. Clough added one more when Ashley Woods reacted first in a goal mouth scramble.
 Final score Cumberworth A 1  Clough B 4.
------------------------------------------------

It was a top of the table clash over at redoubt home of Wakefield Utd who entertained Howden Clough U10 B. It was clough who started the brighter and went close through impressive George Woodcock. Clough played well from the back throughout the game and goalkeeper Guy Hardwick earned himself m.o.m with a string of class saves. Resolute defending from Rob Naylor and James Leadbeater kept United at bay while the attacking prowess of midfielders Declan Sheehan, Conner Teale and Woodcock posed questions of the united back line. It was Clough who deservedly made the breakthrough with inform striker George Spencer scoring his 10th goal in 4 games with a stunning volley into the corner of the net, Jamie Cawtheray worked his socks off and linked well with the attack whilst remembering his defensive duties at the same time, Alex Hasioszyn was introduced with Lawrence Killey and they both posed threat to united goal but it was another move between the 2 George's woodcock and Spencer that broke the united resistance. Woodcock let a left foot drive go towards the goal which the keeper did well to save but Spencer was on hand to mop up his 11th in 4 games with a lethal finish from 2 ft!. The United team didn't give up and posed a few threats of their own and a great corner was met with a towering header to pull 1 back but clough held on for the victory.
-----
Wakefield Utd v Clough u10's friendly (11-a-side)
Clough played their first 11-a-side match in preparation for next season and the signs are there for a good team, from a Wakefield k.o there was a bit of confusion and Clough picked the ball up and front man Lawrence Killey piped the keeper to make a quick 1-0, Hardwick in goal was again in fine form and had to be against a very determined united team. defenders Thomas Jackson James Leadbeater Jamie Cawtheray and Alex Hasioszyn worked well and linked with the midfield four of Charlie (twinkle Toes) Toulson, Rob Naylor, Joe Woodhouse and speed demon Declan Sheehan. upfront were Ashley woods and Lawrence Killey who both linked well with midfield and made some intelligent runs. Dominic Hale was a thorn in the United side and worked tirelessly throughout ,Conner Teale and George Spencer also had a good game which was a very even game played in the correct spirit a draw would have been a fair result going on work ethic but it was Clough who nicked a 2nd through Hasioszyn to win the match 2-0.
