Open Age Player and Coach
Development Policy
Continue the skills and technical coaching, demand good levels of
fitness, understanding of the laws of the game and positive attitude to
playing football. The 1st team and reserves system (one squad) to be
fully enforced with high expectations of 1st tam success, Players to be
prepared to play where chosen. Older players to help in the development
of younger players coming into the squad and in setting examples on and
off the field of play. Still promote the fun / enjoyment element of
belonging to Howden Clough. Older players to be
encouraged to assist coaching and
developing younger age groups with a view to becoming coaches at a later
stage.

Action from Cloughs 2-2 draw with Soothill on Sat 14 Feb 04.

Action from Cloughs last game of season losing their first game of season
0-3 to Airdale Celtic
|
|
Sat 8 Nov 03 Cloughs
game with Commonside was abandoned during the second half after Simon Walker
suffered a leg injury. Walker, Cloughs youngest open age player, scored but
was then injured after 55mins and taken to hospital with what was feared to
be a broken leg although X-rays later revealed no break.
22/11 Bottom of the table Soothill conceded five against Howden Clough, who
had Paul Lilley (two), Jason Stainburn (two) and Ian Hall on target.
6/12 Clough moved up to third, a point behind Airedale, after a 4-1 win at
Norfolk.
11/1/04 Clough moved to forth place with a comfortable 4-0 win over Dewsbury
West Side.
With games in hand on the top two, Clough are realistic title challengers -
Lee Crossland (two), Joe Armitage and Ian Hall were on target.
28/2/04 Clough went top with a 3-2 win over Commonside. Clough are level on
35 points with second place Salfia Rangers - both teams have one game left
- but Clough are top by virtue of a slightly better goal diff.
