Leeds City Vixens 1 v 3 Howden Clough Ladies. Half time 0 v 2
In the West Riding Women's Premier league Howden Clough Ladies took revenge
from last seasons cup final defeat with a 3 - 1 victory over Leeds City
Vixens Clough dominated the first period with Rebecca Croft a constant
threat and Helen Wagstaff going close with a long range strike Against the
run of play Vixens were unlucky not to take the lead as a free kick resulted
hitting the bar but clough managed to scramble the ball away Clough
eventually took the lead when Jodie Hunters through ball split the defence
for Louise Ikin to curl the ball pass the keeper Clough gained a two goal
cushion just before the interval with Ikin heading over the keeper from
Sarah Woods cross The restart saw vixens exerting pressure on Cloughs
defence and despite brave performances from Clair Kiddle, Sam Coulthard,
Emma Walker and Stacey Wood managed to pull one back Shortly after Vixens
were unlucky not to equalize as Sarah Morton produced a great save off the
line Clough introduced Emma Rutherford and Shelley Evans who linked up well
as Evans through ball to Rutherford was knocked wide of the post, Clough
ensured the points when Ikin let the ball run to Sarah Wood who made no
mistake

Republica 0 v 4 Howden Clough Ladies.
Half time 0 v 3
In the
West Riding Women's Premier League Howden Clough Ladies moved into joint top
position with Bradford City after a 5 - 1 victory over the current league
leaders Silsden. From the start Clough exerted pressure and a superb through
ball from Helen Wagstaff found Emma Rutherford who hit the bar. Louise Ikin
and Rutherford were a constant threat to Silsden who defended well, but 10
minutes into the game central defender Stacey Wood headed the ball home from
a corner by Wagstaff. Silsden hit a purple patch but keeper Sarah Morton made
some superb saves to deny a Silsden equalizer. An injury to Shelley Evans saw
Lorna Dixon take her place who crept in from the right to hit over the
advancing keeper to give Clough a two goal lead with her first touch of the
ball.
Silsden
again took control and managed to pull one back with a low volley under the
keeper , but from the kick off Jodie Hunters clever play set up Rutherford
who made no mistake to put Clough 3 - 1 up.
The goal
of the game came just before the interval when Emma Walker won the ball in
defence and played it out to Rutherford who's clever flick split the defence
and put Wagstaff through to fire home under the keeper.
The re -
start saw Clough weather an early storm an take control of the game and put
the game beyond doubt when Sarah Wood latched onto a through ball and lobbed
over the keeper from 20 yards.

Republica 0 v 4 Howden Clough Ladies.
Half time 0 v 3.
Clough Ladies secured a convincing victory in the West Riding County
Women's Cup with a 4-0 victory against Leeds Republica and earned a plum home
tie against Ossett Town in the next round. Clough got off to a dream start
after two minutes when a precise delivery from Jodie Hunter put Louise Ikin
through to lob over the oncoming keeper. Clough exerted further pressure on Republicas defence and a poor clearance saw Sarah Wood grabbing Cloughs
second firing home at the far post. Clough settled but Republica launched a
wave of attacks searching to get back into the game and it was only a
stunning save from Sarah Morton that denied them. Clough re grouped and a
long throw from Emma Rutherford enabled Sarah Wood to flick a searching ball
into the area and Ikin grabbed her second.
Second
period saw Republica pressurize the Clough defence but were unable to
capitalize on chances .Clough stepped up play and a poor clearance fell to
Helen Wagstaff who hit a fearsome shot into the top corner from 25 yards
to seal victory.

Clough Ladies 8 v 1 Ossett Town.
Half Time
1 v 0.
A superb
seven goal second half performance ensured Howden Clough Ladies inclusion
into the next round of the West Riding Women's League Cup. From the start Ossett started the stronger and were unlucky not to capitalize on chances to
take the lead, the best of which was a well worked move from defence and
were unfortunate to hit the post. In the dying minutes of the first period a
corner from Helen Wagstaff took a deflection off the keeper to give Clough a
interval lead.
Second
period saw Clough take control and 2 minutes into the half Wagstaff piercing
through ball enabled Emma Rutherford to lob the keeper.
Shortly
after Clough went three up with a fine finish from Jodie Hunter.
Clough grew in
confidence and stepped up play and Louise Ikins chip over the keeper to
increased the tally. Rutherford went on a superb solo run down the right and
crossed the ball for Ikin to grab her second. Further strikes from Lucy
Maude , Sarah Wood and a second from Hunter made up the tally. Kelly Rushforth had an impressive debut

Half time
3 v 1.
Clough
Ladies lead the West Riding Premier League after a 6 - 1 victory over newly
promoted Collingham. Clough started the stronger and took a deserved lead on
10 min when Emma Rutherford broke down the right and hit the ball across the
keeper in at the far post.
Collingham responded soon after and capitalised on a defensive mix up to
equalize. Clough regained the lead with Louise Ikin heading home from an
Helen Wagstaff corner. Wagstaff was again instrumental in setting up
Rutherford to head home over the keeper to give Clough a 3 - 1 interval lead.
Second
period saw Clough battle against an onslaught as Collingham searched in vain
to pull one back, but superb defending from Kelly Rushforth, Stacey Wood, Emma
Walker and Rebecca Croft kept them at bay and keeper Sarah Morton commanding
her area well.
Clough
stepped up play and increased the lead with Rushworth and Hunter combining
well to set up Wagstaff to fire home under the keeper Sarah Wood made it
five after a searching cross from Rushforth who finally
got her
reward after a superb ball from Hunter to make up the tally.

Howden Clough Ladies 6-0 Farsley Celtic.
A superb second half display saw Howden Clough Ladies stay top of the West
Riding Women's Premier League after a 6-0 victory over Farsley Celtic.
First period saw Clough in control but despite brave efforts were unable to
take the advantage, the nearest was Louise Ikins header off the post from
Helen Wagsaffs corner.
Second period Clough took a deserved lead when Wagstaffs through ball
enabled Emma Rutherford hitting under the advancing keeper.
Consistent pressure from the Clough strikers saw them increase their lead
resulting in a back pass two strong for the keeper to reach.
Shortly after Ikin and Rutherford set up Sarah Wood to hit home wide of the
keeper.
Clough increased the lead with keeper Sarah Morton found Kelly Rushforth who
laid the ball to Sarah Wood who's searching cross found Rutherford who made
no mistake to grab her second.
Helen Wagstaff broke through the defence to hit a fearsome left foot strike
into the top corner.
Farsley to their credit searched to pull one back but a brave save from
Sarah Morton ensured Clough a clean sheet.
Late on Rutherford broke through breaking the off side trap to complete her
hat trick.

Howden Clough Ladies 4 v 1 Ossett Town. Half time 2 v 1.
Clough ladies booked their place into the last 16 of the West Riding County
Womens Cup with a 4 v 1 victory over Ossett Town.
Clough started the stronger and forced early pressure with Stacey Wood and
Louise Ikin heading just wide of the post from Helen Wagstaffs corners.
Clough then stepped up the pressure launching several strikes and finally
broke the deadlock when Emma Rutherfords strike proved too powerful for
the keeper to hold and crossed over the line.
Shortly after Clough became complacent and a fine run down the left brought
the equalizer chipping over the keeper.
Just before the interval Clough regained the lead when Sarah Wood set up
Ikin to hit a thunderous shot wide of the keeper.
The restart saw Ossett hit a purple patch but stout defending from Kelly
Rushforth, Clair Kiddle, Emma Walker and Stacey Wood weathered the storm and
keeper Sarah Morton commanded the area well.
Cloughs Helen Wagstaff increased the lead when a fearsome strike from 25
yards found the top corner and Kelly Rushforths cross enabled Rutherford
to grab her second to ensure victory.

Howden Clough Ladies 2 v 1 Leeds City Vixens Half time 2 v 1
Clough Ladies maintained top spot in the West Riding Women's Premier League
with a 2 - 1 victory over Leeds City Vixens.
Both teams started cautious looking for openings but after 15 minutes Clough
broke the deadlock with Rebbecca Crofts piercing run down the right flank
found Jodie Hunter who crossed for Emma Rutherford to fire home from close
range.
Clough then raised the tempo but were unable to capitalize on several
chances until Louise Ikin broke the off side trap to strike under the keeper
to make it 2-0 Vixens battled well and just before the interval a searching
run down the right flank resulted in a fearsome strike finding the net at
the far post giving the keeper little chance.
Second period saw saw both teams battle well and a searching through ball
from Helen Wagstaff found Rutherford who hit the post.
Late on Vixens were unlucky not to grab the equalizer when a low drive to
the near post produced a tremendous save from Sarah Morton to ensure Clough
victory.

Howden Clough Ladies 4 v 2 Bradford City Half time Clough 0 v 2 Bradford
City
Clough Ladies made a dramatic second half performance to come back from a
2-0 interval deficit
to win the game 4-2 and take a six point lead in the West Riding league
Women's Premier division.
Clough turned out for the first time in their new strip sponsored by the
Needless Inn Scotchman Road Morley and started to dominate but second
place Bradford started to take control and a defensive error
enabled them to take the lead.
Just before the interval a freak bounce in the area beat the keeper leaving
the goal unguarded for the visitors to increase their lead.
Second period saw Clough start to dominate and a long ball over the back
line saw Emma Rutherford break the offside trap lofting the ball over the
oncoming keeper to pull one back.
Cloughs confidence started to grow and a well placed free kick from inside
Clough half enabled Kelly Rushforth to round the keeper and level the score.
Shortly after Rushforth latched on to a lost ball in the area and headed
over the keeper to give Clough the lead.
Bradford went through a purple patch and keeper Sarah Morton pulled off a
string of good saves and then superb defending from Jodie Hunter, Emma
Walker, Claire Kiddle and Stacey Wood kept them at bay and late on Helen
Wagstaff sealed the points with a thunderous strike from outside the box
found the top corner.

Collingham 1 v 7 Howden Clough Ladies
Half time 1 v 3
West Riding Premier League leaders Howden Clough Ladies had an impressive
7 - 1 victory over Collingham Ladies.
From the start Clough exerted early pressure but were unable to convert
chances created and were dealt a sucker punch against the run of play when
the home side found a way through the Clough defence to take the lead.
Clough didn't have to wait long for the equalizer when Louise Ikin lobbed
the oncoming keeper.
Ikin was again instrumental heading home from Sarah Woods corner to give
Clough the lead.
Collingham staged a fight back but were unable to penetrate a well organised
Clough defence.
Just before the interval Emma Rutherford made it three firing home from a
corner.
Second period Clough dominated the play and increased their lead through
Kelly Rushforth after good work from Helen Wagstaff and Sarah Wood.
A darting run down the right saw Rebecca Croft cut inside to hit a fearsome
strike into the bottom corner.
Late on Collingham heads started to drop and a hand ball inside the area was
converted by keeper Sarah Morton.
Clough played to the finish and Louise Ikin completed her hat trick latching
on to a loose ball outside the area and firing into the top corner.

Howden Clough Ladies 3-4 Morley Spurs Ladies Sun 18 Feb 07.
Clough ladies from the West Riding Premier League took on stiff opposition
against Morley Spurs from the Northern Women's Combination Premier League in
the West Riding Women's County Cup and despite a brave performance lost out
4-3 after extra time.
From the start Morley exerted pressure and after only 3 minutes took the
lead from a cross.
Shortly after a free kick from a pass back saw Sarah Wood set up Helen
Wagstaff
to fire under the keeper to level the score. Morley took control grabbing a
couple of goals to increase their lead to 3-1.
Clough came back into the game and a cross from Sarah Wood resulted with
a defensive handball and Wagstaff converted the penalty to make it 3-2
Late on Clough launched further strikes on Morleys goal and could have
levelled
the score but Emma Rutherford shot just wide.
The re-start saw Rutherford a constant threat to the defence and a
penetrating
run into the area saw her brought down resulting in a penalty which was
converted
by Wagstaff to complete her hat trick.
Morley searched in vain for the winner but superb saves from keeper Sarah
Morton kept them at bay.
Extra time saw Clough take control and from Wagstaffs corner Kelly Rushforth
headed just over the bar.
Morley then took the lead latching onto a through ball splitting the defence
to take a 4-3 advantage.
Clough searched in vain for the equalizer but were unable to convert chances
created.

Kirklees Ladies 3 v 3 Howden
Clough

A thrilling encounter with the top
two sides in the West Riding Womens Premier League resulted in a 3-3 draw.
From the start Kirklees packed
midfield resulting with Clough finding difficult to find a way through but
then hit a purple patch and went close to taking the lead when Stacey Woods
free kick fell deep inside the area and Sarah Wood just failed to make the
connection.
Shortly after the home side were
awarded a free kick inside the area for a pass back and hit a stunning
strike into the top corner.
The interval break gave Clough
chance to reform and 15 min into play Emma Rutherford latched onto a through
ball from Lucy Maude to level the score.
Soon after Rutherford was
instrumental when a run down the flank and cross into the area saw Rushforth
volley home to give Clough the lead.
Both teams went on to hit the post
and Kirklees levelled the score after constant pressure.
With time running out Clough thought
they had grabbed the winner from a Rushforth free kick but with the last
kick of the game the home side levelled the score from a corner.

Clough Ladies are promoted into
the Northern Combination Womens league after defeating close rivals Kirklees
Ladies 5 – 0 to become The West Riding Womens Premier League champions.
The start saw Kirklees inflicting
pressure but were unable to capitalise on chances created and Clough
weathered the storm and came more into the game.
Clough worked well and were
unlucky not to take the lead when a superb strike by Sarah Wood hit the bar,
but on 35 mins Jodie Hunter spotted the keeper off the line and hit a
dipping shot under the bar to put Clough in front.
Clough added another when Louise
Ikin split the Kirklees defence to unselfishly turn the ball back to Emma
Rutherford who made no mistake.
From the kick off Clough regained
possession and Ikin was on target herself lobbing the oncoming keeper.
Just before the interval
Rutherford put Ikin through to give Clough a 4-0 interval lead.
The restart saw Kirklees battle
well to get back into the game but with one hand on the title the Clough
defence were more than a match.
Kirklees keeper saved a penalty
after Nicki Murray was brought down inside the area but Clough rapped up the
game as a corner took a deflection off a Kirklees player to put the game
beyond their reach.
Clough are also in the West
Riding League Cup Final on Monday 7th of May Kick off 6-00pm at Ossett
Town.

Bradford City 1 v 2 Howden Clough Ladies
West Riding Women's Premier League champions Howden Clough Ladies finished
off the season in style with a 2-1 victory over Bradford City.
Clough remain undefeated and finished up a massive 14 points clear of their
nearest rivals and are now promoted into the North Eastern Regional Women's
League and will be playing F.A Cup football next season.
At the start of the game both teams launched several attacks and then Clough
took the upper hand with Nicki Murray and Annie Russell coming close but
midway through the half Bradford capitalized on a goal mouth scramble and
took the lead.
The restart saw Bradford take control but were unable to break through the
clough defence.
Cloughs persistence paid off in the last 10 minutes when Sarah Wood grabbed
the equalizer.In the last minute Clough were awarded a free kick which was
launched towards the far post from Helen Wagstaff and a brave effort saw
Wood grab her second to ensure victory.
