Clough girls under 14’s, at home to Lepton
Highlanders.
Howden Clough matched Lepton for the first twenty five minutes until Lepton
broke through and beat the Clough keeper Emma Cawtheray. Then just before
half time Lepton managed to cross the ball from a throwing, which Clough
defence were unable to clear allowing a lepton goal by the far post.
Clough started the second half with pace and a through ball from Charlotte
Oates gave Laura Broadbent the chance of a good finish, scoring with
confidence against the Lepton keeper.
Just as it appeared Clough were getting back into the match Lepton went and
scored a further two goals. Undeterred Clough battled on and Broadbent
rattled the Lepton crossbar.
Chantelle Brennan was then quickly onto a fumble by the Lepton keeper giving
Clough a second goal.
Clough then conceded a penalty which was taken without hesitation giving
Cawtheray no chance. Lepton then scored goal number six with a powerful shot
which sealed the three points for them.
Leanne Foley was awarded Clough player of the day, for her tireless running
and strong tackling in the middle of the defence.

Howden Clough girl’s u/14 Match Report
A good win for the Clough girls who took on Pool girls, in Leeds. For the
first twenty minutes both sides matched each other, kick for kick. Clough
Captain Chloe Sheridan crossed a corner which Chantelle Brennan managed to
get on the end of, only to see the Pool keeper make a good save.
Clough defended well with Emily Bretton, Jade Thomas and Leanne Foley, who
consistently blocked the Pool attacks.
During the second half Clough keeper Emma Cawtheray kept a clean sheet with
some brilliant saves and clearances.
Good displays were also given by Sammy Chamberlain, Roxanne Stainburn, Laura
Broadbent and Charlotte Oates.
Twenty minutes before the end Heleena Egan cleverly took the ball passed the
Pool right back, only to be brought down by a late tackle by the defender.
Sheridan stepped up for the subsequent free kick and scored in the top right
hand corner of the Pool goal.
As hard as Pool tried to break down Clough’s defence, they were unable to do
so, the game ended one nil to Clough.
Player of the day was awarded to Jade Thomas who continues to improve with
every game.

Howden Clough Under 14 girls v Altofts girls.
Sunday 4th November 2007.
Clough girls were off to a flying start, lead by Capt Chloe Sheridan, who
shot just wide in the first minute. The Altofts keeper made some excellent
saves until Chantelle Brennan made a looping shot to score Cloughs first.
Charlotte Oates made a great turn in defence clearing the ball for Charlotte
Booth to score her first for Clough. Just before halftime Altofts headed a
goal from a great corner. This gave Altofts a boost and they equalised early
in the second half. Player of the day Sammy Chamberlaine then individually
scored a clever cross come shot to beat the Altofts keeper.
A rash tackle in defence resulted in a penalty to Altofts which they easily
converted. Altofts managed to score a fourth goal with minutes to go.
At the end Laura Broadbent played a wonderful cross leaving Heleena Egan an
easy side foot finish, final score four all.
