LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!

Under 11's and 12's-Within League Rules
Continue individual soccer skills and team work coaching, concentrate on technical ability and tactics, monitor improvement of and promote individuals responsibility for improvement. Increase the stretching routines to include light stamina training, continue warm up and cool down sessions before and after games as well as training sessions. Begin to place players in positions of play (for continuity) but still move them around within the team occasionally. Organise into 1st and 2nd teams (within league rules), 1st team coach to have first pick of the age group, players not required for 1st team duty in that week to be included in the 2nd team squad. Continue the theme that winning is fun without pressure to succeed, success is expected more in 1st team than in the 2nd.
Where possible play friendly games where the 1st and 2nd teams can be mixed to make up teams, this promotes teamwork throughout the age group, training games would be a good starting point for this. All players in these age groups to train together.

Match Reports

25th Sept 05
Howden Clough under 12 girl's had a hard fought 2-2 draw against Morley Spurs in a game Clough should have won. Playing with the wind in the first half, 2 goals from Alice Senior put clough 2 up at the break, but chances went begging from Laura Broadbent and Rosie Whitehead. Clough started the second half with some positional changes. Changing Christina Pichowzc and Katherine Lee changing around but half way through a penalty for Morley with Charlotte Oates accidentally handling the ball. Player of the match Sammy Walsh having to defend to the last, but a late goal from a good save from Emma Cawtheray to take the match to a draw.

9th Oct 05
In a physical encounter Clough u12's girls out played a strong Pudsey Junior girls side 1-0 with some flowing football being played. Alice Senior, Laura Broadbent both coming close in the first half. Pudsey finished first half strong. Clough keeper Emma Cawtheray having to make 2 fine saves and a goal line clearance from Katherine Lee. In the second half Clough started well with a change of formation and seeing Player of the day Christina Pichowzic scoring with a fine shot into the bottom corner. Clough held on with some strong defending from Rosie Whitehead and Charlotte Oates and a late strike from Sammy Walsh hitting the bar could have seen Clough win a lot more convincingly.

30 Oct 05
Howden Clough under 12's girls had a 2-1 win against a big Burley Trojans side. A good solo run from Alice Senior opened the scoring. Has the half went on Burley seemed to get into there stride and Player of the Day Sammy Walsh and Charlotte Oates defended well. It was keeper Emma Cawthray that kept Clough in the lead at half time. Just after the break Burley equalized, which put Clough into gear with some fine football from Christina pichowicz and Katherine Lee putting Charlotte Oates into space to fire in a fine low shot. There was also some fine attacking from Laura Broadbent and Rosie Whitehead to seal a fine win.

27/11

Chloey Sheridan was dominant in midfield scoring three and setting up two for Player of the Day Laura Broadbent. This was a great team effort by everyone. In the second half Cloughs defenders had more to do with Christina Pichowicz clearing off her own goal line and Rosie Whitehead held the defence together. Goalkeeper Emma Cawtheray having a rare outing up front and having a shot just wide. Alice Senior also adding to the score with two fine solo goals. There was also some strong games from Charlotte Oates and Katherine lee.

Howden Clough U12 Girl's played a friendly game against Lepton Highlanders from Division One.
Losing 2-1 in a game that Clough were in control of but missed chances proved costly. Lepton went 2 up just before half time and Goalkeeper Emma Cawtheray had a fine first half making 2 good saves, but had little to do in the second half. As Clough pressured forward for goals Player of the Day Chloey Sheridan covered every inch of the pitch with her strong running ,midfield domain and fine passing. Laura Broadbent, Rosie Whitehead and Charlotte Oates all had good chances to score before Alice Senior scored with 10 mins to go but Lepton held on to seal the win. Defenders Sammy Walsh and Christina Pichowizc played well and had very little to do in the second half.

Howden Clough Girls Team 3 played Clough's boy's in a David and Goliath challenge. Clough girls came out on top after a thrilling game. Clough boy's started to get stronger and then the girls got them self's in to gear with a fine run down the left and a perfect cross by Emma Cawtheray was met by a half volley by Casey Brooke for her first goal for Clough. Player of the Day Rhiannon Sheehan scored the second just after the restart, but the boy's came back to score with a fine passing movement and good shot to beat keeper Laura Broadbent. Katherine Lee attacked with pace and some strong defending by Jade Fisher-Wilkins kept the girl's ahead. The boy's want a rematch by coming so close to try to make the return match in favour of the boys.

Howden Clough u12's had a hard fought win over top of the table Nostell Girls thanks to goalkeeper  and player of the day Emma Cawtheray pulling off 4 or 5 brilliant saves. Clough started slowly but once Alice Senior scored midway through the first half clough's midfield Chloe Sherdian, Rosie Whitehead started to play there best football. A fine solo run from Laura Broadbent put Clough 2 up at the break.Second half Nostells strikers made the defenders Christina Pichowicz, Charlotte Oakes work overtime. Captain Sammy Walsh led by example and marshalled her defence to perfection. The game was sealed when Senior scored her second and Clough to win 3-0 in a thoroughly entertaining game

Howden Clough u12's had a comfortable  5-2 win over a big Pudsey Juniors, Clough started well with a slick passing Movement from back to front for Chloe Sheridan to fire home, then the same move moments later for Alice Senior to run onto and round the keeper. Pudsey's keeper kept the score down with two fine chances from Rosie Whitehead and a good save from a Chloe Sheridan free kick. Just before the break, Howden Clough keeper Emma Cawtheray made a fine double save and from the rebound Charlotte Oates had a solo run and a fine pass put Player of the Day Laura Broadbent clear to score with a fine shot into the bottom corner.
Clough made some changes after the break which let Pudsey pull back and for some good defending and tackling from Christina Pichowzc and Captain Sammy Walsh. Rhiannon Sheehan came on as sub and made an instant impact a strong tackle and a good pass gave Chloe Sheridan her second and just before the end a scramble in the Pudsey goal area aloud Laura Broadbent her second.

Howden Clough U12 Girls had to work hard to beat a stubborn Burley Trojans side putting all there players behind the ball and played on the counter attack. Clough's keeper Emma Cawtheray was a virtual spectator for most of the game. Cough's defenders Sammy Walsh, Christina Pichowicz and Charlotte Oates were all strong and didn't allow Burley's forwards ant time to settle and protected there goal well. Cough's midfield of Chloe Sheridan 3 goals, Rosie Whitehead 1goal and a fine piece of ball control from Alice Senior to fire home with her left foot. striker Laura Broadbent caused problems teasing Burley's defence, but it was left for Player of the Day Rhiannon Sheehan who made some strong tackling and strong running and fine passing to set up Clough's goals

Howden Clough U12 Girls had a comfortable 9-2 win against Garforth Rangers. If it wasn't for Garforth's keeper this game would have been in double figures. In a game Clough didn't play as well as  normal due to Clough changing players on and off to make a game of it. Player of the day Laura Broadbent scored 4, Chloe Sheridan 2, Alice Senior 1, all could have added to there tally. Keeper Emma Cawtheray was helpless in stopping both Garforth's goals but her presence in ordering her defenders about put off the Garforth's attackers. Two great passes from Rosie Whithead allowed Sammy Walsh to score from long range and after 3 or 4 attempts at goal Katherine Lee's first goal was greeted with Premiership style celebration. Christina Pichowicz and Charlotte Oates also played well in defence.

Howden Clough u12's saved the best game of the season so far to beat a big and fast West End side 3-2. Clough started strong making the Westend girls make mistakes, Clough's passing game made all the difference in a first half that we went 3 up and the front 3 of Alice Senior Chloe Sheridan and Laura Broadbent all scoring, with player of the day Chloe Sheridan creating all three. In the second half West End changed there tactics pulling one back straight after the break. West started to put pressure on our defenders Charlotte Oates, Sammy Walsh, Rhiannon Sheehan and Christina Pichowcz all held strong. The game started to get physical with clough having to take off keeper Emma Cawtheray who came out bravely to make a fine save. With minutes to go a West End player knocked the ball over Rosie Whitehead to score and make the game a very tense last few minutes. Clough's girls are now 5 points behind West End with 4 games in hand setting up an interesting last few weeks out of the season

Howden Clough u12 girl's played in a one sided affair coming out 18-2 winners against Hebden Royd. Clough's keeper Emma Cawtheray dealt with everything comfortably that defenders Sammy Walsh, Rosie Whitehead and Christina Pichowicz couldn't deal with. Scoring 18 was all about clough's forward line Alice Senior 5, Chloe Sheridan 5, and Laura Broadbent 8. Player of the day went to the full team.

Howden Clough mixed age team played in a friendly game against Pannal Sports a side from Harrogate League who play there games in a 2 year age span, 3 girls are u10 3 u11's and 3 u12's. This was new to clough girls. A very even contest and all 3 u10 clough players earning themselves joint player of the day. keeper Nadia Mcdermott, Kate Pichowicz and Lucy cawtheray. The u11's also played there part in a very attacking and open game Levi Mcleod went close to scoring and good defending from Jade Fisher Wilkins and some good passing ball control from Tanisha Barrett. Clough's u12's had a big say in the Quality of Clough's ball retention and the strength in defence of katherine Lee, Emily Bretton and the ever willing forward runs of Emma Cawtheray. The game ended with a penalty shoot out which ended 4-4 but clough lost on sudden death. This was a different option to girls football and was very entertaining and very good to watch from both teams.

In a top of the table clash Bolton Woods tried to start the game very cagy leaving there 2 best players on the touch line, but this back fired. Clough's forward line of Chloe Sheridan, Alice Senior and Sharing player of the day Laura Broadbent going 3 up after 10 mins. Then Bolton Woods decided to put some pressure to our defenders of Sammy Walsh, joint player of the day Christina Pichowcz and Charlotte oates but all stood firm. Once the initial onslaught had weathered clough played the best passing game of the season so far and went 4-0 up at the break. in the second half where the weather conditions deteriated Laura Broadbent completed her match with 5 goals. With an injured Captain and central defender Sammy Walsh clough had to make changes with clough's sub Rosie Whitehead and Rhiannon Sheehan all doing well in a fast and furious game. Bolton Woods pulled one back with some fine string of good saves from emma Cawtheray in goal. But it was clough's forward line in Alice Senior and 2 goals from Chloe Sheridan to make this hope of clough's dream to keep ahead in the league table.

The U12 girls have had a formidable season scoring a record number of goals 108 in total, with all three strikers contributing. All other team members scoring one or more goals in the season. The U12's squad is a mixture of U11's and U12's which makes it that little bit special. Captain Sammy Walsh picking up the League Trophy on Monday 15th May.
Clough did loose out in an epic battle in the League Cup 3-1 in extra time to Tingley Girls. Good luck to all girls for the next season as they may be embarking to 11 aside football.
