23/9/07
The Under 10's put in a
promising performance in their 1st game together and were a little
unlucky to go down 7-2 to Burly Trojans. Clough took the lead after
3 minutes when Finty Kissane finished well after latching on to a
good through ball from Isabel Hilton. Burley came back strongly,
equalising, then taking the lead before half time, despite some good
defending under pressure from Eleanor Woods, Anna Martin and Hannah
Riordan and a Girl of the game winning performance from goalkeeper
Rachel Day.
Clough had a difficult spell at the start of the 2nd
half conceding 4 goals in five minutes, but they regrouped and came
back strongly producing their best football of the game. This was
rewarded when after a typically strong run by Clare Booth,
Isabel
Hilton scored a fine goal. Unfortunately Clough conceded again
before full time.

Under 10 girls lost 2-0 at
home to Kirkburton. Despite conceding early, Clough dominated the
first quarter and most of the 2nd half. They were unlucky not to be
rewarded for their efforts. Rachel Day had a good game in goal.
Megan Ryan and Isobel Hilton played solidly in defence. In midfield
Clare Booth put in another strong running performance, well
supported by Hannah Riorden. Finty Kissane worked hard up front and
was unfortunate not to score. The ever improving Ellie Woods
thoroughly deserved her Girl of the Game award.'

16/12/07 The Under 10 girls put in
their best performance of the season so far, sharing the spoils
with Norristhorpe Bees. Norristhorpe started strongly and scored
early on. Megan Ryan came into defence and changed the game.
After good midfield work by Isabel Maguire, Girl-of-the-game
Clare Booth opened Cloughs account. A quick throw in by Booth
found Isobel Hilton in space who produced a powerful finish.
Norristhorpe made a couple of good substitutions at half time
and scored two quick goals to take the lead. Clough rallied,
Ellie Woods and Hannah Riorden creating chances for striker
Finty Kissane. With ten minutes left Hilton latched onto a Ryan
corner scoring with a first time volley The final few minutes
saw Clough under great pressure, Rachel Day commanded her area
well and pulled of some good saves. Solid defending by Charlotte
Flynn and Ryan ensured Clough held on for a draw.

Despite the Under 10 girls
dominating the first half against Normanton, only an Anna Martin
goal separated the teams at the interval. Hard work from Clare
Booth, Megan Ryan, Isabel Maguire and Finty Kissane saw Clough
camped in the opposition half but they lacked composure in front
of goal until Martin moved into attack. In the second half
Clough passed the ball much better, regularly opening up the
Normanton defence. A goalkeeping error led to Booth scoring.
Girl-of-the-game Isobel Hilton then hit her third hat trick of
the season. Striker Kissane showed some class finishing, bagging
a quick brace. Solid, fault free defending from goalkeeper
Rachel Day, Charlotte Flynn, Ellie Woods and Hannah Riorden
ensured a final score line of 7-0.

3/02/08
For the second time in two
weeks the Under 10 Girls entertained Normanton. Although the
visitors performed much better than the previous game, Clough
still ran out 3-0 winners. Constant Clough pressure in the first
half was kept at bay by some resilient defending until Megan
Ryan broke the deadlock with a long range volley just before the
break. Top scorer Isobel Hilton converted a chance on the stroke
of half time after good support from Ellie Woods. Finty Kissane
netted after a dominating spell at the start of the second half.
Normanton then came back at Clough, keeper Rachel Day had to be
on her toes to make a number of good saves. Anna Martin won
Girl-of –the Game for a great defensive performance and all
round contribution.

Howden Clough U10 girls
crashed out of the cup at the quarter final stage losing 3-1 to
a strong Kirkburton outfit. Clough scored first after 22 minutes
when the much improved Isabel Maguire won a challenge on the
edge of the area and set up Isobel Hilton who despatched her
shot. Unfortunately Kirkburton hit back straight away equalising
a minute later. Kirkburton dominated the second half, but good
defending from Charlotte Flynn and Megan Ryan and a number of
outstanding saves from girl-of-the-game Rachel Day kept the
deadlock intact until 4 minutes from time, when Kirkburtons fine
passing display finally paid off and they scored 2 quick goals
to go through.

Howden Clough U10 girls
shared the points with top of the league Rothwell with a hard
fought 1-1 draw. Clough took the lead after 9 minutes when after
a classy interchange between Finty Kissane and Isobel Hilton,
Kissane finished well. Both teams were up for the match and
produced plenty of physical yet skilful football. Chances were
hard to come by. A defensive lapse let Rothwell equalise early
in the second half, but that apart, Clough defended well with
strong games from Hannah Riorden, Anna Martin, Charlotte Flynn
and keeper Rachel Day.
Megan Ryan was Player of the match for
another outstanding, hard-working performance.

22/4/08T
The Under 10 girls managed
to dominate 90% of their midweek game against Rothwell and still
lose 2-1. Clough attacked from the outset. Great play by Finty
Kissane, Anna Martin, Isobel Hilton and Megan Ryan created
chance after chance. The pressure eventually paid off when
Clough were awarded a penalty, Martin hit a great shot which
unfortunately rattled the crossbar. Rothwells only incursion
into Clough territory in the first half resulted in a corner.
This led to a great move and finish for Rothwell to take the
lead.
The second half was much more open. Clough were still on
top when Ryan picked the ball up deep, beat two Rothwell players
then hammered a 20 yard shot into the top corner to equalise.
Clough suffered a setback when they lost Martin to a leg injury.
Shortly after, Rothwell broke on the counter attack, Clough were
outnumbered at the back and for once, Girl of the Game, keeper
Rachel Day couldn’t save them.

Clough U10 Girls tore into
Burley Trojans from the kick off, going 6-0 up in 15 minutes.
Girl-of-the-Game, Clare Booth made some fine runs and finished
expertly to grab 4 quick goals. Two powerful strikes from Anna
Martin added to the tally. Clough performed all over the pitch,
Megan Ryan, Hannah Riorden, Ellie Woods, Finty Kissane and
Isabel Maguire having good games. Isobel Hilton worked very hard
producing an outstanding display. Burley snatched a goal back
just before half time. In the second half the talented Burley
centre forward got 4 half chances and scored 4 goals. The
quality of finishing was such that keeper Rachel Day could do
nothing about it, however Martin completed her hat-trick
to put
the game beyond Burley.

4/5/08
21-0 was a flattering
score line for Howden Clough U10 Girls when they visited Dewsbury
Rangers.
Dewsbury played much better than in previous
encounters, especially with a hard tackling 2 half
performance. Clough managed to find the gaps though. Regular
keeper Rachel Day moved up front and scored 4, as did Clare
Booth from defence. Ellie Woods scored her first of the season,
then her second and third. She was joined on the hat-trick list
by Isobel Hilton and Megan Ryan. Anna Martin scored 2 good goals
and Charlotte Flynn and Finty Kissane got one each. The hard
working Isabel Maguire was player of the match.

6/5/08
Clough U10 girls needed at
least a point from their final game of the season against league
leaders Rothwell to finish 2nd in the league.
Unfortunately a tired display saw a close 2-1 defeat. Isobel
Hilton worked hard throughout and was rewarded with a goal. The
skilful runs of Clare Booth ensured the Girl of the Game award.
