Continue the skills and technical coaching, demand good levels of fitness, understanding of the laws of the game and positive attitude to playing football. The 1st team and reserves system (one squad) to be fully enforced with high expectations of 1st tam success, Players to be prepared to play where chosen. Older players to help in the development of younger players coming into the squad and in setting examples on and off the field of play. Still promote the fun / enjoyment element of belonging to Howden Clough. Older players to be encouraged to assist coaching and developing younger age groups with a view to becoming
 coaches at a later stage.

Howden Clough U17 Girls Team Reports
 Clough U17    5-0    Lepton    (13/10/02)

Clough U17 girls ran out winners over Lepton 5-0. Clough started strong and took the lead through Emma Rutherford. Helen Wagstaff made it two by chipping the keeper and Rutherford completed her brace giving Clough a 3-0 interval lead. Lepton battled well but were unable to penetrate a well organised defence and Player of the match Toni Lines made it four. A 20yds strike from Helen Wagstaff sealed the victory.

Rothwell Town 1-6 Clough U17  (27/10/02)
From the start Cloughs Kirsty Glyde, Angela Lines, Sam Coulthard and Stacy Wood defended well against the strong wind and as Rothwell pushed forward Clough scored twice on the break through Sophie Carter and Emma Rutherford. Rothwell to their credit pulled a goal back seconds before the restart.
Cloughs midfield trio Helen Wagstaff Heidi Halloran and Hayley Holt dominated play as Rutherford and Carter added further strikes and Lucy Maude made up the tally.
Toni Lines went close late on and keeper Turner commanded the area well as Rothwell tried hard to reply.

Clough  3-0  Hebden Royd  (3/11/02)
Clough took an early lead as the keeper was unable to hold a shot from Helen Wagstaff after good work from Haley Holt and Heidi Halloran.
Royd responded well but were unable to find a way through an outstanding Clough defence with Natalie Gray and Stacy Wood commanding well.
The restart saw Clough increase their lead as Emma Rutherford found the net from the narrowest of angles.
Royd battled well and twice cleared off the line, and created chances bur player of the match Jenny Turner kept Clough in the game with some outstanding saves .
Clough secured the game as Wood headed home a Wagstaff corner.

Lepton  1-3  Clough u17 (10/11/02)
From the start Clough pressurised Leptons defence and took the lead through an own goal.
Shortly afterwards Toni Lines set up Helen Wagstaff who's superb strike found the top corner.
Lepton stepped up play but were unable to find a way through central defenders Stacy Wood and player of the match Kirsty Glyde.
Cloughs then increased their lead as Emma Rutherford tucked in a rebound from Wagstaffs shot.
The restart saw Lepton take the upper hand and deservedly pulled a goal back.
Clough battled well with Lucy Maude unlucky not to increase the lead.
Good displays from Heidi Halloran and Sam Coulthard.

Clough  2-1 Brighouse (24/11/02)
Clough u17 Girls ran out 2-1 winners in a closely contested match with Brighouse.
Clough started the stronger dominating midfield and took the lead through Sophie Carter who latched onto a cross front Emma Rutherford.
Brighouse hit a purple patch but were unable to break through the Clough defence with Stacy Wood outstanding.
Second period saw a Brighouse penalty saved by Jenny Turner which inspired Cloughs Helen Wagstaff and Heidi Halloran creating chances and a superb cross Lucy Maude's header against the bar converted by Rutherford.
Brighouse grabbed one back late on as Clough held onto clinch victory.

Clough  4-2  Farsley Celtic Open Age  (15/12/02)
Clough U17 Girls ran out 4-2 winners in a close game against Farsley Celtics Open Age team.
Clough started the stronger and took the lead with a superb strike from Toni Lines.
Farsley came close twice hitting he bar and then managed a deserved equaliser.
Clough regained the lead with Lines completing her brace.
After the break Clough launched several strikes resulting in Angela Lines (Twin Sisters)
increasing Cloughs lead.
Farsley pulled one back but Stacy Wood wrapped it up for Clough.
Player of the match went to Lucy Maude.

Lepton  0-3  Clough U17s   (19/01/03)
From the start Clough started to dominate the game carving out several chances to take the lead and the deadlock was finally broken with a 20 yd strike by Helen Wagstaff giving the Lepton keeper no chance.
Clough were unlucky not to stretch their lead with Stacy Wood hitting the post.
Early into the second period Emma Rutherfords volley doubled Cloughs lead.
Lepton battled hard to get back into the game but keeper Jenny Turner was in superb form.
Toni Lines sealed the game with a well placed strike and Heidi Halloran was player of the match working well in midfield.

Clough U17s Girls   2-1   Brighouse   (23 Feb 03)
Clough U17 Girls reached the League Cup Final with a thrilling 2-1 win over Brighouse.
Clough started the stronger and took the lead through Helen Wagstaff with a superb 25 yd chip over the keeper.
Brighouse defended well as Clough tried to extend their lead but could not stop Toni Lines far post finish from an Emma Rutherford cross.
Second period Brighouse took command with the Clough defence holding on and keeper Jenny Turner outstanding.
Clough had to work hard but Brighouse pulled one back from a free kick.
Clough managed to weather the storm and now meet Hebden Royd in the final.

Keighley Ladies   0-5   Clough U17 Girls   (2 Mar 03)
From the start Clough pressurized Keighley's defence and Emma Rutherford broke the deadlock with a superb header from a Helen Wagstaff corner.
Clough started to dominate with Rutherford scoring three more goals giving Clough a 4-0 interval lead.
Second period Keighley came more into the game but Helen Wagstaff sealed the points as she rounded the keeper to make it five.
Player of the match went to Sam Coultard who impressed in midfield.

Brighouse  0-4  Clough U17s   (23 Mar)
Cloughu17 Girls were 4-0 victors in a top of the table clash with Brighouse.
From the start Brighouse started well creating several chances but the Clough defence held out well with central defenders Stacy Wood and Emma Lafanchere outstanding.
Clough came more into the game and took the lead with a strike from Sam Coulthard.
Shortly after Player of the match Toni Lines made it two with a left foot strike into the top corner giving the keeper little chance.
Clough then took a 3-0 interval lead as Lucy Maude latched onto a high bounce and fired into an empty net.
Brighouse started well at the restart but Clough weathered the storm with keeper Jenny Turner outstanding.
Brighouse kept searching for a goal but Lines made sure of victory grabbing her second.

Hebden Royd   2-3 U17 Clough Girls    (6/04/03)
Clough U17 Girls became Champions of the newly formed West Riding League with a thrilling 3-2 victory over close rivals Hebden Royd.
Both teams started well but Clough took the lead from a long range shot into the bottom corner from Lucy Maude.
Shortly after a good run from Toni Lines set up Emma Rutherford to make it two.
Roy hit a purple patch and pulled one back before the interval.
Clough then grabbed a third shortly into the second half but Royd pulled it back to 3-2 within a minute.
Heidi Halloran, Emma Rutherford and Toni Lines were outstanding.

CUP FINAL
HOWDEN CLOUGH U17S  3-2  HEBDEN ROYD   (13 APR 03)
Clough U17 Girls made sure of the double with a 3-2 win in the West Riding League Cup
Both teams started cautious with defences playing a key role untill Emma Rutherford latched on to a superb through ball and tucked it passed the oncoming keeper to give Cklough the lead.
Royd kept plugging away and pulled one back to make it all square at the interval.
Clough came more into the game but failed to clear the ball in a goal mouth scramble resulting in Royd taking the lead.
Clough searched to equalize and did so as Angela Lines slotted home from a rebound off the keeper.
Extra time looked imminent as Rutherford went on a run and made no mistake making sure the cup stayed at Clough
