Playing in their first game together Cloughs newly formed u14 girls lost out to an
experienced Brighouse 0-3.
From the start Clough created several chances but were unable to convert and it was
Brighouse who took the lead and held on to the interval.
At the restart Brighouse hit a purple patch increasing their lead to 3-0.Cloughs
determination produced superb strikes from Jodie Hunter bringing a great save from the
keeper, and m.o.m. Hayley Holt hitting the post.
Norristhorpe 3-1 Howden Clough(30/9/01)
U14 Clough girls lost out to Norristhorpe 3-1.
Clough started strong and good work from Angela Lines, Laura Todd and Kirsty Glyde
kept Norristhorpe at bay.
Clough were awarded a free kick from just outside the box which m.o.m Hayley Holt
powered through the wall giving Clough a well deserved lead.
After the interval Norristhorpe had a good spell and scored twice to take the
lead.Clough worked hard to get back into the game but a late corner enabled Norristhorpe
to seal the points.
Bradford City 1-0 Clough u14s (7/10/01)
Clough u14s lost narrowly to Bradford City 1-0.
From the start Clough put pressure on the Bradford defence and a super strike from
Hayley Holt was swell saved by the keeper.
Toni Lines had a good run deep into the box only to be brought down but Clough
failed to convert the resulting penalty.
Cloughs defence were put under pressure and MOM Sophie Whitehead made some superb
saves to keep Clough in the game.
Second half Bradford pressed but the Clough defence of Laura Todd and Angela Lines
played well.
Late on Bradford converted a penalty to win the game.
Sally Freeman and Jodie Hunter worked well and Jade Horshman showed promise on her
debut.
Hebden Bridge 3-1 Clough u14s(14 Oct 01)
Clough lost out 5-1 to Hebden Bridge .
Clough launched several attacks and took a deserved lead through Hayley Holt as
they strung several good moves together.
The more experienced Hebden side then managed to pull one back just before the break.
In the second half, both teams were evenly matched and Clough were unlucky to concede two
goals from corners to give Hebden victory.
Clough u14s 2-2 Norristhorpe(3 Nov 01)
Clough u14 girls drew with Norristhorpe 2-2.
After early pressure Clough took a well deserved lead after a superb lob over the keeper
from Toni Lines.
Clough continued to pressure the Norristhorpe goal with Hayley Holt and girl of the game
Sally Freeman coming close.
Just before the interval Norristhorpe launched a raid on the Clough goal and grabbed an
equaliser through an own goal.
After the break Norristhorpe dominated play and took the lead early on.
Cloughs fighting spirit payed off as Hayley Holt turned well inside the box and slotted
the ball passed the oncoming keeper to grab a well deserved equaliser.
Howden Clough 0-4 Brighouse(11 Nov 01)
Despite a good performance Clough lost out to Brighouse 4-0.
Toni Lines, Hayley Holt and Sally Freeman came close but the Brighouse keeper was
in fine form.
Both teams battled well with Angela Lines, Laura Todd and Girl of the game Kirsty
Glyde playing well.
Brighouse had a late surge but keeper Sophie Whitehead made some excellent saves.
Lepton 0-0 Clough u14s
Clough u14 girls drew with Lepton 0-0 in a closely fought contest
Evenly matched teams worked hard launching several attacks at goal but were unable to
convert any of the chances made. Lepton slightly had the edge but were thwarted by a
determined Clough defence with Girl of the game Laura Todd n total command.
After the interval Clough had more of the play with Hayley Holt, Sally Freeman and Jade
Horsham coming close but an in form Lepton keeper denied them the winner.
Clough U14s 2-1 Hebden Bridge
Clough U14 Girls were 2-1 victors over a previously undefeated Hebden Bridge.
Clough defending trio of Haley Holt, Laura Todd an Kirsty Glyde managed to keep
Hebden at bay early on and then took the lead from MOM Sally Freeman after a good cross
from Jody Hunter. Clough started to dominate the game with Toni and Angela Lines working
well in midfield, but Hebden grabbed a n equaliser shortly before the break.From the
restart Clough continued to launch further raids on Hebdens goal and an individual run
resulted with Haley Holt restoring Cloughs lead.
Hebden then hit a purple patch and Cloughs keeper Sophie Whitehead made several saves
.Jade Horsham worked well up front as Clough grabbed a well deserved victory.
Brighouse 2-0 Clough U14s(10 Feb)
Clough started well launching several attacks but were unable to find the net,
Brighouse took advantage of Clough pushing forward with a break away goal midway through
the first period. Clough battled hard but were unable to level the score.
Second period saw Brighouse go through a good spell but player of the match Sophie
Whitehead made some great saves to keep Clough in the game.
Clough to their credit searched for a goal stringing several good moves together
but it was not to be,and Brighouse increased their lead to seal the points
Honley 2-1 Clough u14s (3 Mar 02)
Two evenly matched teams battled out a close encounter with Honley
holding on to a 2-1 victory.
Clough started well stringing
Clough stepped up play and Hayley Holt gave
Clough hope by pulling one back but Honley grabbed the spoils.

Hebden Royd 0-0 Clough U14 Girls (7th Apr)
Clough u14 Girls battled well in a goalless game against Hebden Royd.
From the start Clough had to defend well against the slope with Lara
Todd, Kirsty Glyde, Angela Lines and keeper Sophie Whitehead impressing.
Clough settled and created chances but were unable to convert.
Second period Cloughs Toni Lines, Hayley Holt and Sally Freeman worked
well in midfield and Jade Horsham pressurizing Royds defense but the
game finished in stalemate.
Player of the game went to Sally Freeman and Kirsty Glyde.
Clough U14s 1-1 Lepton Highlanders
Clough pressurized the Lepton goal and were unlucky not to go into the
interval with a convincing lead.
Lepton then took the lead and this forced Clough to step up play
and a scramble in Leptons defence resulted with Sally Freeman hitting
the net from outside the box.
Clough went in search of the winner but were thwarted by a well
organised Lepton defence.
MOM went to Toni Lines.
Farsley Celtic 4-1 Howden Clough U14s
Clough U14 Girls were unfortunate not to get anything out of a 4-1
defeat at Farsley.
The teams evenly matched provided end to end strikes and despite good
work from the Clough defence took the lead.
Clough though battled on and Sally Freeman leveled the score from a
corner.
Clough put Farsley under pressure with Hayley Holt twice hitting the
bar.
Farsley took the lead after a cruel bounce sent the ball into the net.
Despite a brave effort from keeper Sophie Whitehead Farsley grabbed a
third and sealed the points late on despite Clough working hard to get
back into the game.

Farsley Celtic 3-1 Howden
Clough
Clough u17 Girls lost out to current Farsley Celtic 3-1.From the start
Clough strung several good moves together creating chances but it was a stronger Farsley
who took the lead from a free kick.
Clough stepped up play and grabbed a well earned equaliser with Sam Coultard
lobbing the keeper after good work from m.o.m Heidi Halloran. After the break a strike
from Lucy Maude was well saved by the keeper.
Farsley regained the lead, and shortly after Clough opened up the Farsley defence
with Sara Parker shooting just wide of the post Farsley had to work hard to keep Clough
out but sealed the win with a last minute goal.
Clough 3-2 Rothwell Town(7/10/01)
Clough u17s Girls ran out victors over Rothwell Town 3-2.
After a slow start Clough settled and strung several good moves together and
finally opened their account with a long range shot from Helen Wagstaff which found the
top corner giving the keeper no chance.
Shortly after Lucy Maude increased the lead from a narrow angle and Emma Rutherford
beat the offside trap to make it three
After the interval Rothwells determination paid off as a goal mouth
scramble resulted in a goal and shortly afterwards they grabbed another from a well timed
cross. Stacey Wood , Natalie Gray . Sara Whitehead and Helen Blakeley
defended well and MOM went to Jenny Turner in Goal.
Hebden Royd 5-1 Clough u17s (14 Oct 01)
Clough faced a tough encounter against an experienced Hebden Royd side who
ran out 5-1 winners.
Clough started well but failed to covert their chances.
Hebden took the lead from a long range shot and they started to dominate going in
4-0 at half time.

better team.
Lucy Maude managed to pull one back with a well taken strike after good team work
but Hebden took their tally to five.Player of the match was Stacy Wood while Helen
Wagstaff and Hedi Halloran worked well in midfield.
Clough u17s 8-0 Brighouse(Sun 4 Nov 01)
Clough u17 Girls ran out 8-0 winners over Brighouse.
After a slow start Clough settled well and took the lead after good work from girl
of the game Sam Coultard enabled Lucy Maude to open Cloughs account.
Shortly after Sara Parker made it two from a well taken corner.
Central defender Stracy Wood brought the ball forward resulting with Emma
Rutherford making it three.
After the break Clough continued to dominate with Emma Rutherford latching on a
poor clearance from the keeper to make it four.
A 20yd screamer from Lucy Maude took the tally to five and then Stacey Wood made it
six with a fine individual goal.
Clough then forced an own goal and Emma Rutherford completed her hat-trick to make
it eight.
Natalie Gray and Heidi Halloran worked well.
Lepton 1-1 Clough u17s (11 Nov 01)
Clough got off to a bright start totally dominating the game and after 5 min took a
well deserved lead through Emma Rutherford.
Cloughs play of possession football was superb and came close on several occasions
but were unable to convert.
Lepton under pressure defended well as Clough hit the post and forced a goal mouth
clearance.
Lucy Maude provided several penetrating balls but Clough were unable to increase
their lead squandering shots wide.
Second period came more into the game but fine play from Stacy Wood thwarted their
chances.
Clough then went through a purple patch but a goal was never to be.
Lepton launched a last gasp attack and grabbed a fortunate equaliser.
Girl of the game went to Sara Whitehead for good defensive play through out.
Lepton Highlanders 1-3 Clough Girls u17s (12 Jan 02)
Clough u17 Girls progressed into the cup Semi finals with a 3-1 win over
Lepton.
Clough started slowly which enabled Lepton to launch the first strikes at
goal but superb defending from Sara Whitehead, Helen Blakeley, Stacy Wood, and m.o.m
Natalie Gray enabled Clough to get into the game and to take the lead through Emma
Rutherford from a superb corner by Helen Wagstaff.
Lepton worked hard and found a chink in Cloughs armour to grab an equaliser just
before the break.
The restart saw Cloughs midfield trio Heidi Halloran, Sam Coulthard and Helen
Wagstaff start to dominate and it was Wagstaff who restored Cloughs lead bending the ball
round the Lepton defence into the bottom corner from long range.
Clough keeper Jenny Turner and striker Lucy Maude , Sara Parker and Hayley Holt all
played well and it was Wagstaff who sealed victory with a carbon copy of her first goal.

CUP SEMI-FINAL
Howden Clough Girls 2-0 Farsley Celtic
Clough U17s Girls have reached the cup final after a 2-0 semi final
victory over Farsley Celtic.
Clough battled against the wind and took the game to Farsley creating several
chances and were rewarded with a well taken goal from Lucy Maude.
Farsley battled back but good defending from Sara Whitehead, Stacey Wood, Natalie
Gray and Helen Blakeley kept them at bay.
Second period Farsley came more into the game but Clough settled and dominated
midfield through Heidi Halloran, Sam Couthard and Helen Wagstaff and grabbed a second with
the Farsley keeper unable to keep hold of Sam Coulthards effort.
Clough were unlucky not to grasp a third after a fine solo run from Hayley Holt.
Sara Parker, Emma Rutherford and keeper Jenny Turner were impressive.
Player of the match went to Helen Blakeley.
Howden Clough U17s 5-2 Brighouse (17 Feb2002)
Clough Girls moved into second place in the league with a 5-2 win
over Brighouse.
Early on Brighouse had chances to take the lead breaking through Cloughs
defence but keeper Jenny Turner stood up well.
Cloughs Hayley Holt broke the deadlock with a great solo goal and soon
after Emma Rutherford hit a second.
Just as Cloughs confidence grew Brighouse pulled one back but Lucy Maude
hit Cloughs third. Brighouse started
on Clough exerted pressure and a superb cross by Emma
Rutherford was converted by player of the game Sam Coulthard.
Clough increased their lead from Rutherfords wide
shot despite a brave effort
the Rothwell keeper.
Just before the interval Lucy Maude made it
after a good run from Sarah Whitehead.
Second period saw Clough dominate play and Helen Wagstaff swerved shot
made it four.
Sam Coulthard rounded off the goals with a superb
chip over the oncoming keeper.
Stacy Wood, Natalie Gray, and Helen Blakeley impressed.
Rothwell Town 1-3 Howden Clough
U17s
From the start Clough dominated play but were unable to pierce the
Rothwell defence, despite chances created from Cloughs midfield trio
Sam Coulthard, Heidi Halloran and player
of the match Helen Wagstaff.
Rothwell in a rare attack forced a defensive error and took the lead.
Clough re-grouped and equalized shortly after with a superb strike
from Emma Rutherford.
Clough keeper made a good couple of good saves before Rutherford made
it two before the interval.
The restart saw Rothwell searching for a goal but Cloughs defence held
on well.
Rutherford completed her hat-trick challenging well and picking her
spot from an acute angle to seal victory.
Natalie Gray, Sara Whitehead and Helen Blakeley played well.
CUP FINAL
U17 Girls
Howden Clough 2-1 Rothwell Town
Clough U17 Girls won the Calderdale League Cup with
a 2-1 victory over Rothwell Town.
In a thrilling game both sides went in search of an early goal and
Clough came the closest but hit the crossbar, good defending ensured a
goalless first half.
The restart saw Clough putting pressure on Rothwell with Stacy Wood
launching good balls into the danger areas bur Rothwell broke away to
take the lead.
Clough raised the tempo, and a free kick by Helen Wagstaff enabled
Lucy Maude to level with a superb header.
Rothwell had chances but were denied by player of the match Jenny
Turner who made some great saves.
Extra time loomed but Maude found the slightest
of gaps to give Clough victory.
Howden Clough U17s 1-1 Farsley Celtic
Clough U17 Girls shared the spoils in a top of the table clash with
Farsley Celtic 1-1.
From the start Clough were the stronger launching several strikes on
Farsleys goal and were unlucky not to go to go in front as Farsley
scrambled the ball off the line.
Against the run of play it was Farsley who took the lead as the ball
found its way into Cloughs goal through a crowded area in at the near
post.
The restart saw Clough searching for a well deserved equaliser when a
long ball from Stacy Wood found top scorer Emma Rutherford who duly
delivered the goods to share the points.
