Rothwell Girls 1 v 2 Clough U13 Girls
Clough U13 Girls made a belated start to their league campaign with a hard
fought victory over Rothwell town Clough had better of the first period and
took the lead through Jessica Davidson's angled drive and then good work by
Jemma Bennett and Jenny Walsh created further openings After the break
Rothwell went through a purple patch but but the defensive partnership of
Ruby Holland and Rebecca Sheehan stood firm Clough looked to have done
enough but a rare mix up allowed Rothwell to grab the equalizer Clough dug
deep and a superb strike from Emily Holroyd gave Clough the spoils
14 Nov 04. The U 13 Girls had a useful 3-1 home victory over Brighouse.
Both sides had chances in a largely even first half. Jen Walsh's trickery
constantly caused problems for the visitors but Jenny Halligan and Emily
Holroyd were unable to take advantage whilst at the other end Brighouse were
denied by the commanding Ruby Holland who was ably supported by Rebecca
Sheehan and goalkeeper Charlotte Ellis. However, it was the visitors who
broke the deadlock scoring right on the stroke of half time.
Clough responded immediately after the break with a stunning individual goal
from Halligan. A clever run and pass from Jemma Bennett put Halligan through
again soon after and she made no mistake. Clough were now in control with
Holroyd bossing midfield and it was no surprise when she headed home from a
corner to make the game safe.
Brighouse battled bravely but there was no way back.
