U10 Player Development Policy
Continue build on individual soccer skills but with more
emphasis on each individual improving their ability, still moving
players around in different playing positions continuing to develop all
round playing ability and understanding of team roles, still playing
for enjoyment, introduce the idea that winning is fun, no pressure to
succeed.
Increase stretching routines (still light) to continue development of
good warm up and cool down practices. Begin specific coaching practices
:- attacking play, defensive play. Small sided games, 7 a side moving
to 11 a side towards the end of the season. Increase number of games
against opposition clubs towards end of season. Begin to organize into
1st and 2nd teams with players moving between the two. Start training
with the older age groups getting ready for league football.

26/10/03 The U10 Orange team extended their 100% record while
ending Heckmonwikes unbeaten record start.
An excellent display saw them win 8-0. MOM Jonjo Keough was outstanding
while Callum Hall and Joel Padgett also did well. Jack Hinchcliffe, Dominic
Cleghorn and Joseph Hanson were solid at the back along with goalkeeper
James Coulborn.
Jordan Holland, Keough and Hall grabbed two goals each with Cleghorn and
Padgett also on target.
The U10 Orange lost a tough friendly 2-1 to Dalton. They were 2-0
down inside 10 mins before Padgett pulled one back in the second half.
Keough had a goal disallowed for a foul.
Hinchcliffe, Hanson, Oliver Tiplady, Hall, Cleghorn and new goalkeeper
Joshua Adams all played well.
The U10 Black team ran out 3-1 winners against Heckmonwike. MOM
Connor Mitchell came out of goal in the second half to score twice and
Declan Bickers added the other. Kieran Murphy, Jemil Bhatti, Ryan Kilgallon,
Peter Wilson, Josh Gibson and James Coulborne impressed.
The U10 Black worked hard against Dalton B but after leading
through Josh Adams, Clough trailed 2-1 at half time. Kilgallon and Bickers
were outstanding but despite good second half displays from Wilson, Declan
Wood and Oliver Hale, Dalton were too strong.
Clough U10 Tangerine played their best football of the season
against Kirkheaton and Declan Bickers gave them the lead. They missed
further chances before conceding an equaliser.
Clough pressed in the second half and were rewarded with goals from MOM Josh
Gibson (two), Kieron Murphy and James Coulborn. Conner Mitchell, Joseph
Hanson, Tobias Humpleby and Ryan Worthy played well.
2/11/03 The Tangerines had a hard act to follow after the two other
U10 Teams had beaten Rastrick.
Good passing from Declan Wood and James Coulbourn led to Conner Mitchell
scoring and two more goals from Kieron Murphy extended the lead.
Rastrick pulled one back, but Jamil Bhatti marshalled the defence while
Oliver Hale playing his first game tackled well.
Declan Bickers added goals either side of a Coulbourn strike to complete
Cloughs 6-1 win and ensure the Under 10s had an unbeaten record against
Rastrick.
18/1/04 The U10 Tangerines impressed in an 11-0 win over Cumberworth.
Captin Tobias Humpleby led Clough well, while James Coulbourn opened the
scoring.
Jordan Holland hit a hat-trick, Kieran Murphy, Jon-Jo Keogh and Declan
Bickers bagged two each, while Conner Mitchell scored the pick of the goals
with a neat volley.
14/3 Battyeford 2-4 Howden Clough Cup Semi Final
The U10s beat Battyeford in their Cup Semi- Final. Clough took the lead when
Dominic Cleghorn crossed and a Battyeford defender headed into his own goal.
Battyeford gave goalkeeper Declan Goodman no chance with their equaliser,
but Joel Padgett restored the lead with a shot from close range.
Oliver Tiplady extended the lead when he rounded the goalkeeper and score
after a fine run. Battyeford pulled a second goal back but good defending
from Hanson, Keough and Cleghorn prevented them from scoring again and after
Callum Hall went close Tiplady sealed the win with a late goal.
Credit should go to both teams for a very entertaining match.
