Howden Clough Ladies 2-1
Leeds Metro Utd Ladies ( 18/10 )
Clough Ladies progressed in the West Riding Women's Cup with this
victory.
Clough were forced to weather an early storm but the midfield worked well
and despite creating chances themselves, the first half ended goal-less.
Clough grew in confidence and Sophie Hayes fired home. Soon after a good run
and cross from Lucy Maude found Toni Lines to beat the advancing goalkeeper.
Leeds raised their game and pulled one back, but Clough held on thanks
largely to an excellent display from goalkeeper Jenny Turner.
Shipley 0-9 Howden Clough Ladies (9/11)
Cloughs young team used the slope well in the first half to create several
chances.
Emma Rutherford latched on to a through ball and rounded the goalkeeper to
score before Toni Lines fired home at the far post.
Rutherford went on to complete her hat-trick as Clough led 4-0 at the break
before she added her forth early in the second half.
Soon after Emma Lafanecheres long ball up the line found Rutherford who
knocked in her fifth.
Shipley battled well and were denied a consolation as Jenny Turner made a
superb save.
Clough regained control and strikes from Lucy Maude, Sam Coulthhard and Sara
Whitehead sealed an impressive win.
Howden Clough Ladies 2-3 Ossett Albion Ladies (16/11)
Despite a brave effort Clough Ladies suffered a 3-2 defeat in the West
Riding County FA Women's Cup.
The stronger, more experienced Albion side pressured Clough but good
defending from Stacy Wood, Emma Walker, Sara Whitehead and Kirsty Glyde kept
them out.
Helen Wagstaff and Heidi Halloran were outstanding as Clough took control
but they were unable to convert chances and it was Albion who took the lead
before half time.
Clough started the second half well and after moving up from midfield Wood
struck a 25yd shot for a deserved equaliser.
As Clough pushed for a second, Albion regained the lead but again the home
side struck back with Emma Rutherford equalising.
Both sides were looking towards extra time but Albion's strength finally told
as they grabbed a late winner.
Howden Clough Ladies 1-2 Silsden (23/11)
Despite a determined effort Clough ladies bowed out of the West Riding
Cup to last seasons Premier Club. From the start Clough took the game to
Silsden, launching several attacks, but were unable to find a way past the
in-form goal-keeper.
Clough grew in confidence and looked the better side for a while, but
Silsdens wealth of experience told as they weathered the storm.
Gradually they took control, forcing Clough goalkeeper Jenny Turner to make
several good saves but Silsdens pressure paid off as they took the lead.
This fired up Clough as Stacy Wood moved up from defence and good work from
Sophie Carter saw her move into the penalty area. Helen Wagstaff made sure
by placing the ball wide of the goalkeeper.
The game was wide open but Silsden broke the deadlock and ended Cloughs cup
hopes with a late winner.
Howden Clough Ladies 9-1 Leeds Republica (30/11)
Clough Ladies produced a fine display to beat Leeds based Republica.
Sa Coulthard broke the deadlock, splitting the defence to open Cloughs
account and soon after Toni Lines latch onto a cross from Helen Wagstaff to
double the lead.
Lines added a third after good work from Heidi Halloran and Sophie Hayes as
Clough continued to dominate and just before half time Hayes influential
play set up Lines to complete her hat-trick.
Howden Clough Ladies 6-0 Hebden Royd (7/12)
Clough ladies moved into second place
running out winners over last seasons close rivals Hebden Royd 6-0.
Clough took the lead early on as Emma
Rutherford's penetrating run resulted with a cross which was converted by
Toni lines at the far post. Rutherford then grabbed a brace as she was
put through from midfield, central defender Stacey Wood made a fine solo
run to make it four and Lucy Maude struck twice once tucking one into the
bottom corner and then hitting a long range shot over the keeper. Royd rallied but great work from Jenny
Turner ensured a clean sheet. Good performances from Emma Walker, Angela
Lines, Heidi Halloran, Kirsty Glyde and Sam Coulthard.
Westend Ladies 4 v 2 Clough Ladies (4/1/04)
Both teams battled hard in the top of the table clash and Clough started
the stronger but superb defending from the home side kept the first period
goalless the restart saw Westend raising their game and took the lead from a
well worked corner. Clough searched to equalize as they pushed forward but
Westend broke and a superb strike gave keeper Jenny Turner little chance
shortly after a dubious penalty made it three Clough stepped up a gear and
pulled one back as Toni lines chipped over the oncoming keeper Westend made
it four and Cloughs Helen Wagstaff converted a late penalty
Leeds Republica 1 v 9 Clough Ladies (11/1/04)
Clough ladies ran out 9-1 victors over Leeds Republica in the West Riding
Shield.
After last weeks defeat Clough were determined go get back on track and
turned on a superb team display. From the start both teams battled hard but
Stacey Wood broke through the defence to fire home the opener.
Woods then set up Sophie Carter to tuck the ball home from close range Woods
then hit two, completing her hat trick after good work from Helen Wagstaff
despite a great stop from Republicas keeper Emma Rutherford scored off the
rebound. Just before the interval woods fired home a fierce shot from long
range.
The restart saw Republica battle hard threatening Cloughs defence but were
unable to convert chances but Cloughs Toni Lines broke clear and tucked the
ball passed the advancing keeper.
Republica searched for a consolation and were rewarded with a penalty, Jenny
Turner saved well but Republica scored off the rebound. Clough kept on the
pressure and Emma Lafanechere grabbed a brace late on.
Clough Ladies ran out 7-0 winners over Leeds Republica. From the start it
was Republica who started the stronger launching several attacks but superb
defending from Kirsty Glyde, Stacey Wood, Emma Walker and Sarah

Second period Cloughs Helen Wagstaff and Sam Coulthard started to dominate
midfield and increased the lead with Emma Lafanechere tucking in the rebound
from the keeper after a great strike from Angela Lines. Maude
completed her brace lobbing over the keeper and shortly a fine turn and
drive by Angela Lines made it four Toni Lines strike gave the keeper little
chance as she drove the ball home. Late on Sophie Carter scored a brace of
copycat goals off rebounds from Emma Rutherfords long range efforts
Clough Ladies were
victors over Brighouse Town 13-1. Emma Rutherfords cross resulted with an
own goal and Rutherford increased the lead from a great through ball. Sophie
Carter tucked in a rebound off the keeper to make it three Rutherford turned
well in the area and slide the ball pass the keeper and a superb strike from
Emma Walker gave the keeper little chance Rutherford completed her hat-trick
then Toni Lines shot under the keeper to make it seven Brighouse broke
catching the clough defence out to pull one back.But before the interval
Lucy Maude lobbed the keeper to give clough an 8-1 interval lead.
The restart saw Brighouse the stronger and forced Jennie Turner to make her
best save of the season. Further strikes from Toni Lines, Sam Coulthard,
Emma Rutherford and a brace from Stacey Wood completed the rout

). Clough struggled to find form and unable to convert the few chances
created until midway through the half when Stacey Wood headed Clough into
the lead from a Emma Rutherford corner.
Shipley threatened to break and caught Clough flat footed to grab a deserved
equalizer.
The re-start saw Clough step up play and Rutherford gave Clough the lead
after good work from Kirsty Glyde. Cloughs confidence grew and increased
their lead as Sam Coulthard chipped the keeper.
Coulthard was on hand to set up Emma Lafanechere for a fourth. Stacey Wood
completed her brace firing home a cross from Toni Lines. Lucy Maude and
Heidi Halloran impressed in midfield
Hebden Royd 0 v 3 Clough
Ladies
Clough Ladies ran out 3-0 winners over Hebden Royd in a close encounter.
Royd started well but the Clough defence soaked up the pressure until Clough
settled and started creating chances with Emma Lafanechere coming close.
Cloughs Sam Coulthard broke the deadlock after latching on to a superb pass
from Helen Wagstaff. Clough extended the lead just before the interval as
Lafanecheres pace paid dividends springing the offside trap. Half Time 0 v
2.
Second period Clough dominated with Lucy Maude unlucky to hit the bar with a
superb strike but great team play set up Lafanechere to volley home Cloughs
third. Fiona Hill and Sarah Whitehead were impressive in defence
Howden Clough Ladies 1 v 1 Silsden Ladies
(7/3/04)
Clough Ladies battled hard in a 1-1 draw with close rivals Silsden. First
period Silsden started the stronger but were unable to penetrate a well
organised Clough defence. Clough grew in confidence and took the lead
through Stacey Wood heading home from a superbly taken corner from Helen
Wagstaff.
Second period Clough created more chances with Sophie Hayes coming close ,
Silsden grabbed the equalizer in the dying minutes as Clough failed to clear
a goal mouth scramble.
